While top seed North Carolina (31-5 ~ 14-2 in the ACC) awaits No. 13 Ohio (29-7 ~ 11-5 MAC) this Friday night in St. Louis, with tip off at 7:15 p.m. EST, televised on TBS, both the coaching staff, the team and of course the fan base are also waiting to see if Kendall Marshall will be able to play or not. On Sports Illustrated there is a video with a specialist, Dr. Tom Hackett of the Steadman Clinic, that says there is a good chance that the floor general could be on the court for the Sweet Sixteen match up. In an article from the Washington Post it says that Marshall has less pain the day after the surgery, while head coach Roy Williams talks to USA Today about playing without his PG.

So, for now it’s a wait and see if the sophomore floor general who has had five double doubles in the last six games. On the other hand there will be no more waiting when it comes to Nerlens Noel, who has cut his selection to three, and No. 4 AP & ESPN/USA Today North Carolina is not one of them.

“(I’ve) narrowed down to UK, Syracuse and Georgetown,” Noel told Scout.com on Sunday.

I am not sure why the 6’11″ center, who is said to be the best shot blocker in a long time, decided to leave out UNC from his list, but it is what it is. Noel, who was supposed to be in the 2013 class and then re-classified to `12, did not say when he will make a decision, but I have to wonder why he cut the schools to three before making all the official trips he had planned. I been following recruiting for a long time and each year it gets more and more complicated on why these young men do things, and while I will not go as far as to say that shoe companies and handlers are ruining the recruiting world, I will say that they have (at least in someways) tainted it enough to make many wonder.
