Tony Mitchell scored 21 points and Roger Franklin added 20 as North Texas downed Western Kentucky 84-67 Thursday night. North Texas' (10-8) four-point lead at the 16:39 mark of the second half ballooned to a 14-point advantage following a 10-0 run, punctuated by two Tony Mitchell dunks and 0 for 6 shooting by Western Kentucky (5-13) during that span. The Hilltoppers would get no closer than 10 the remainder of the game. Western Kentucky held one-point leads twice in the game, first at the 17:06 mark and again at the 5:13 mark of the first half. The Hilltoppers were led in scoring by Derrick Gordon with 20 points and Kahlil McDonald contributed 17 points with six rebounds. North Texas tallied 22 assists to Western Kentucky's eight en route to shooting 56.4 percent from the floor, including 6 for 12 from 3-point range.
