Photo Credit: Lauren Walson/College Spun After many weeks of speculation surrounding what Adreian Payne’s decision would be regarding the NBA draft, the 6-foot-10 power forward decided just hours before the draft deadline that he will be staying for his senior year at Michigan State University. The news first broke when Adrian Wojnarowski, an NBA columnist for Yahoo Sports, announced on Twitter that league sources had confirmed that Payne was going to pass on the NBA draft this year. Michigan State’s Adreian Payne will return to school for his senior year, a source told Y! Sports. Midnight deadline to enter NBA Draft. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) April 28, 2013 Payne was projected be a late first-round or early second-round pick after making drastic improvements from his sophomore to junior year, averaging 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He also showed his ability to be a perimeter player by contributing baskets at the 3-point line. His decision to return makes Michigan State a national championship contender and a preseason favorite to win the Big Ten championship in 2013-14. The Spartans are now returning six of their seven top scorers after only losing one senior, Derrick Nix. Spartan fans should have a lot to look forward to. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
