A University of Rhode Island basketball player was arrested Tuesday after two female students told police he posted videos of their sexual encounters on Facebook, the Providence Journal reported.
Jonathan Holton, a 20-year-old freshman, was charged with two counts of video voyeurism after being taken into custody by campus police.
Authorities said Holton's sexual encounters with the women were consensual, but Holton did not have permission to post the videos on Facebook.
Holton, a native of Miami, was released on his own recognizance and agreed not to contact the alleged victims. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
In a release by the university, vice president for student affairs Thomas R. Dougan said, "these are disturbing allegations that strike at the core of our commitment to make this a safe and civil campus community."
Holton, who has been suspended from the team, led the Rams in rebounding this season.
The allegations come just one week into the tenure of new coach Dan Hurley, who took over the program after a 7-24 finish.
