Feeling Husky !!!!!! — Rodney Purvis (@rpurvis_0) April 5, 2013 After deciding to transfer from the North Carolina State Wolfpack, freshman point guard Rodney Purvis has decided to continue his college education and play basketball for the UConn Huskies men's basketball team. "I really trust coach Ollie," Purvis said Friday. "They have a great tradition of producing NBA guards and that's where I want to be someday." Purvis will have to sit out next year due to the NCAA transfer rules He averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds but had problems with head coach Mark Gottfried about playing time during the 2012-13 season. He had originally given an oral committment to the Louisville Cardinals but decommitted in May of 2011. He then decided to attend his home state school in the Wolfpack as the 10th ranked player in the 2012 ESPN rankings. This is a big get for Kevin Ollie and the UConn men's program. Purvis is a former McDonald's All-American, who with a year of practice, learning the system, should be able to step right in for Shabazz Napier should he decide to stay one more year at UConn.
