Fox Sports South and SportSouth will have a heavy dose of Southeastern Conference basketball on Friday night. Tennessee begins the Cuonzo Martin era with a home game against UNC-Greensboro. Martin replaced Bruce Pearl, who was fired after last season due to his involvement in NCAA infractions. The Volunteers have been to five consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Vanderbilt, which begins the season ranked No. 7 in both major polls, opens at home vs. Oregon. The Commodores are loaded with their seven top scorers back, including leading scorer John Jenkins (19.5 ppg). The Ducks are in year two of the Dana Altman regime and went 21-18 last season. The game tips at 10 p.m. ET. South Carolina opens against Western Carolina at 7 p.m. on SportSouth. Coach Darrin Horn enters his fourth season aiming to improve on last seasons 14-16 record and last-place finish in the SEC East. The Gamecocks are one of the younger teams in the SEC with just one senior and three juniors on the roster. The Tennessee women host Pepperdine (4 p.m.) on Sunday in their first televised game since legendary coach Pat Summitt was diagnosed with dementia.
