Mike Singletary brought his legendary intensity to the 49ers, and sent a clear message to his players that poor performances and lack of effort will not be tolerated. He benched his starting quarterback and sent one of his players to an early shower. It is too early to tell if Singletary's methods will prevail with todays athletes, but it is certainly a breath of fresh air to see a coach holding players accountable for not doing their jobs. Singletary always respected the game by the way he played. Nobody can forget the camera shots of Singletary's eyes when he played middle linebacker. They were like a radar, zeroed in on every aspect of what was happening on the other side of the ball. He is now zeroed in on his team, and I have a feeling their are going to be a few casualties.
