South Florida forward Kasean Pryor declares for NBA Draft, enters transfer portal

South Florida forward Kasean Pryor has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, On3’s Joe Tipton has learned. He will also maintain his college eligibility and enter the transfer portal.

Pryor spent just one season playing for the Bulls after transferring from Northwest Florida State in the offseason. He ranked third on the team with 13.0 points to go along with a team-high 7.9 rebounds.

Pryor showed off his range by shooting 35.2% on his 3-pointers in 2023-24 while also displaying defensive versatility with 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. He had one of his best games of the year on Jan. 12 vs. Rice, finishing with a season-high 29 points, five steals and five blocks.

Standing 6-foot-10 and weighing 210 pounds, Pryor has the size that will make him an intriguing prospect at the next level. On3’s Jamie Shaw broke down his game earlier this year in a list of mid-major prospects to watch.

“You will inevitably hear the Bird Man (Chris Anderson) comp thrown around, and there are some similarities,” Shaw wrote. “Pryor has an excellent frame, standing at a lengthy 6-foot-10. He will need to continue adding weight, but it is his motor that might be the biggest takeaway. Defensively, Pryor flies all over the court, switching from perimeter forwards to on-the-block guys. He is an excellent rim protector, deflecting or intimidating shots consistently, as a roaming weak-side defender. Offensively, he runs the floor hard and attacks the basket with purpose.”

Pryor played high school basketball at Pioneer High in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He committed to Boise State, where he spent the first two seasons of his college career. He ultimately played just 13 games for the Broncos over the next two years before opting to go the JUCO route at Northwest Florida State.

Pryor averaged 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in his one season of JUCO, earning him offers from NC State, St. John’s and others before landing on USF.

South Florida has now seen all three of its leading scorers from last season enter the transfer portal, as Chris Youngblood and Selton Miguel are also in. The Bulls finished this past year with a 25-8 record and won the AAC regular season championship, but now have a lot of production to replace in 2024-25.
