Jereal Scott had 30 points and nine rebounds Saturday night as Stephen F. Austin defeated Texas College 64-57.
Scott hit 11 of 19 field goals and was 8 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Lumberjacks (5-4), who prevailed despite shooting 40 percent from the field and committing 21 turnovers. Stephen F. Austin outrebounded Texas College 44-23 and had 19 on the offensive end.
Antonio Bostic added 12 points and five assists for the Lumberjacks.
LaDarren Williams had 16 points and Wendell Maye 11 for Texas College (7-5), an NAIA school.
The Steers led 20-18 with 5:46 left in the first half before Scott hit back-to-back buckets to spark an 11-2 Lumberjacks run. Stephen F. Austin was on top 32-25 at halftime and increased that lead to as many as 15 points in the second half.
