Found March 25, 2013 on Orange Fizz:
The good news: Syracuse is still dancing. The bad: The Orange now have to face one of the best teams in the nation, 1-seed Indiana. These two powerhouse programs feature some of the most devoted fan bases in the nation. So while Hoosier Nation always represents well, SU is almost twice as close to D.C as Bloomington. There shouldn’t be any distinct home court advantage, it’ll be a sea of red and orange Thursday night. While the Hoosiers have talent across its starting five, Khalif Wyatt and Temple did a number on IU. With about 3:00 to play, the Owls held a 52-48 lead and Wyatt was crushing the Hoosiers. But one of the best players in the country, Victor Oladipo, stepped up and delivered a rebound, free throw and dagger three pointer to help push the Hoosiers ahead for good. Follow The Fizz on Twitter for live updates from D.C. and the Sweet 16 Wyatt bombed from long range (and missed a lot, going 3-12) but finished with 31 points on 12-24 shooting. So the Hoosiers can be suscepti...

Temple’s Khalif Wyatt: Oladipo ‘not the first good defender’

DAYTON, Ohio — In a lot of ways, Temple’s Khalif Wyatt and Indiana’s Victor Oladipo are spitting images of one another. Both were under recruited and overlooked by most of the country when they were in high school, and both have blossomed into two of the best players in college basketball. Wyatt, the player of the year in the stacked Atlantic 10 Conference, was rated as just...

Temple falls to Indiana, 58-52, in NCAAs

Temple's players huddled near midcourt, their emotions still raw after letting an historic upset slip away in the final minutes. So close. The Owls couldn't finish what they started. As they consoled each other, Indiana coach Tom Crean joined them to offer some comfort. ''He told us we were the toughest team he played all year,'' Temple star guard Khalif...

Temple facing Indiana team with few weaknesses

Temple coach Fran Dunphy can't find any weaknesses in Indiana. He'd better hope his players can. The Owls face a daunting task Sunday when they face the top-seeded Hoosiers in the NCAA tournament, with the winner advancing to the round of 16. With an abundance of size, speed and depth, Indiana is a nightmare matchup for any team, and Dunphy is concerned the Big Ten power...

A second look at Indiana-Temple

Sunday afternoon’s game had so much too it, it was difficult to digest it all immediately after the game. Especially when a late March snowstorm was staring right at the greater Dayton area. So, after more than 24 hours to think about and analyze the Hoosiers’ 58-52 win over Temple, and how they got there, I took a look at the game in a much more complete way. First, when I said...

Tyrone Garland, Aaron Craft, Khalif Wyatt Shine, But Hold Off on NBA Draft Talk for NCAA Tournament Heroes

For a good part of Sunday afternoon, Khalif Wyatt was trending hard on Twitter. The senior guard from Temple got shout-outs from a wide range of followers, from Nets guard Joe Johnson to Raiders fullback Marcel Reece. Wyatt scored 31 points against Indiana, and although the Owls lost, he boosted himself from anonymity to a household name among hoops fans. Yet it did not amount to...

Temple-Indiana Preview

Temple coach Fran Dunphy isn't the sugarcoating type. He's a non-nonsense guy from Philly. He calls it the way he sees it. So Dunphy wasn't about to pretend he isn't nervous about the Owls facing top-seeded Indiana, a team with size, speed, power, depth, two All-American candidates and 3-point shooters at every position, a program primed to make another run to a...

IU-Temple Postgame Show and Sweet 16 Preview

It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t pretty. And Hoosier Nation collectively has no more nails to chew. But it was a victory, and it was thoroughly satisfying, and it propels Indiana to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season. Despite trailing for most of the second half, Indiana defeated Temple 58-52 today. The Owls – Khalif Wyatt especially – deserve a huge tip of the cap for...
