Score: Temple 83, Detroit 78 Stars: Temple: Rhalir Hollis Jefferson 13 Pts, 12 Reb, 2 Stl.  Khalif Wyatt 20 Pts, 7 Ast. Detroit: Ray McCallum Jr 21 Pts, 7 Reb, 6 Ast. Story: It was a wild game at the Liacouras Center, but Temple was able to hang in there and knock off a tough Detroit team. Detroit (19-11, 11-4 Horizon) came out strong, taking an early lead with some newly-found offensive efficiency as the Titans tried to put Temple (20-8, 8-5 A-10) away early — Doug Anderson and Ray McCallum Jr.  were able to keep the Owls at bay by displaying a very diverse offensive game; McCallum Jr., per usual, was the leader for Detroit, setting his teammates up with easy buckets and showcasing a solid mid-range jumper as Detroit built up a 10-point lead by halftime. However, Temple refused to simply roll over and die — the Owls emerged from the locker room focused and re-energized. The offense began to heat up — notably, the trio of Jake O’Brian, Scootie Randall, and Khalif Wyatt got rolling. Wyatt in particular was great down the stretch, scoring ten points in the final two minutes. Temple was down by five with a little more than 90 seconds to play, but Wyatt wasn’t going to let the game slip away — he knew that Temple needed this one. Temple head coach Fran Dunphy said himself after the game, “Khalif will drive you crazy. He is unlike anyone I have ever coached, but you have to stick with him because he can do some extraordinary stuff on the basketball floor.” With the win, Temple has now won 20 games for the sixth consecutive season, for the first time since the early 1990′s. The Owls will stay at home to play a good Rhode Island team on Saturday as they fight to keep themselves in the NCAA Tournament conversation. In a Temple game that featured a dude wearing a pig mask while air guitaring w a cheesesteak, Khalif Wyatt was STILL most entertaining part — Josh Schrager (@Schragz) March 1, 2013   Khalif Wyatt is a magician. Temple survives at home against a really good Detroit team. You won’t want to see the Titans in the field of 68. — Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) March 1, 2013   Khalif Wyatt went in a 12-0 run by himself to end the game and Temple won. That is the definition of great — Sally TwoDicks (@aidan_34_powers) March 1, 2013
