The Tulane University women's basketball team will open the 2011-12 season on Friday, Nov. 11, when the Green Wave play host to Loyola at 6 p.m. in Fogelman Arena. The contest will be the first of a Tulane basketball doubleheader as the men's team will open its regular season against Alabama A&M approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
As the saying goes "defense wins championships" and on Friday evening defense dealt the Tulane volleyball team their third straight defeat. The Green Wave dropped a four set decision at Memphis, falling by scores of 24-26, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, inside the Elma Roane Fieldhouse and it came down to the Tiger's ability to keep the ball in play.
After suffering a pair of setbacks to Conference USA leader Tulsa, the Green Wave will hit the road for road contests against Memphis and UAB. Sophomore Cori Martone ranks among the league leaders in kills (203), service aces (20) and points (361.5) - leading the team in all three categories - and Nikki Osuna looks to continue her climb up the single season dig charts this weekend.
