University of Arizona head men's basketball coach Sean Miller announced Wednesday that starting point guard Josiah Turner has been suspended indefinitely due to a violation of team rules. Turner did not accompany the team to Los Angeles for this week's Pac-12 Tournament. Josiah Turner has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team for a violation of team rules, said Miller. I am disappointed in Josiah for his actions. Unfortunately this suspension comes at a time of great excitement and opportunity for our team. However, the standards of our program will not be compromised under any circumstances. Hopefully, Josiah will learn a valuable lesson from this experience. Turner, a 6-foot-3, freshman from Sacramento, Calif., is averaging 6.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 29 appearances this season (17 starts). Hes started 16 of the last 17 games for the Wildcats. He was previously served a one-game suspension when Arizona played at Florida in December. Arizona (21-10, 12-6 Pac-10) will play in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament at 3:30 p.m. (MST) against UCLA. After the Wildcats lost their regular-season finale to Arizona State, it's generally believed they need to win the tournament title to earn an NCAA Tournament berth for the second consecutive year. The game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net.
