Anybody else come close to dozing off during the University of Louisville-Bellarmine exhibition?
U of L running no set plays, making one of 19 three-point shots, getting out-rebounded 43-38 by a much smaller team, and making only 12 of 23 free throw attempts. Not encouraging.
If Rick Pitino’s team looked out of sorts, it may have been because he had run his team through a double-long practice session earlier in the day. Part of the conditioning process, he wanted them playing fatigued.

One got the impression that Pitino and Scotty Davenport, a former assistant, had collaborated before the game to expose their team’s weaknesses. It was a work session, not intended to be fun or bolster confidence. Ugly much of the time, mostly run and shoot, with some odd player combinations.

Chane Behanan, Gorgui Dieng and Peyton Siva have been named to the Wooden Award preseason top 50 watch list. Louisville is the only school in the country to have three players honored. ESPN.com exclusively released the list earlier this afternoon. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible, but they can be added to the list as the season progresses and ultimately win the award.
Kyle Kuric is playing professional basketball in Madrid these days, already learning the language well enough to answer fans’ questions sometime, usually in broken Spanish. He also married his college sweetheart Taraneh Momeni, shortly after popping the question during graduation ceremonies at the University of Louisville last spring.

Tight end Ryan Hubbell chose to become a Cardinal last December because he saw the opportunities to existed at Louisville. Nearly a year later and the former junior college All-Conference performer is finding success in that opportunity.
