With the acquisition of Elton Brand, power forward/center Jason Smith didn't figure to get a ton of minutes with the Sixers, but he still figured to be a key contributor off the bench. Unfortunately, after tearing his ACL in his knee during practice, it appears Smith could miss most, if not all, of the coming season. He may or may not need surgery, but either way, Smith will likely be sidelined for at least 4 months.
Smith was going to be part of a big man rotation for the Sixers that included Elton Brand, Samuel Dalembert, Reggie Evans and Marreese Speights. Speights figures to get a lot more playing time with this injury, let's hope the rookie is ready.
