The Victory Formation:
The top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers were hoping to get one last stop in regulation and force overtime in Champaign, and Christian Watford was positive that Tyler Griffey of the Illini wasn’t getting the ball. Why else would you leave your man wide open while the best shooter is actually inbounding the ball from the corner? Oh, this is why you don’t. Being #1 in the nation doesn’t last long this year, and it appears we are set to see a new team at the top spot for the 6th straight week when the new rankings come out next week. Michigan, who gave up to Indiana this past week, is most likely to get it back, with Florida and the Hoosiers losing this past week. As for the Illini, the win is obviously a huge gain on their tournament resume after struggling in conference play over the last month. It was only their 4th win in their last 12 games, since beginning the season 12-0 and being ranked as high as #10 in the country

Illinois’ Tyler Griffey brought down the house when he hit the game-winning layup to upset No. 1 ranked Indiana.
With just under twenty seconds left and the game tied 72-72, Indiana guard Victor Oladipo tried to make a move to get off a potential game-winning shot, but dribbled off of his leg, turning the ball over to Indiana guard D.J. Richardson who pushed it up the floor only...

Like the team he plays for, 2013 has been one long slump for Illinois forward Tyler Griffey.
The senior lost his shooting touch and then his starting job as the Illini, once ranked No. 10 in the country, turned a 12-0 start to the season into a flop that saw them fall toward the bottom of the Big Ten standings.
With less than a second left on the clock Thursday night, though, Griffey...
The talk in college basketball today is all about Tyler Griffey’s layup as time expired to give Illinois an upset win over top-ranked Indiana. While no play last night had a bigger impact on the landscape of college basketball, Marist’s Chavaughn Lewis gave us a more impressive buzzer beater. With Lewis’s Red Foxes trailing the host Iona Gaels by three points in overtime with...

At this rate, no one will want to be No. 1.
Indiana became the fifth straight top-ranked men's college basketball team to lose, falling to unranked Illinois 74-72 on a buzzer-beater by Tyler Griffey on Thursday night.
The senior forward took an inbounds pass with 0.9 seconds to play and made a wide-open layup. And, just like that, the Hoosiers - who moved into the top spot...
In this wide open year in college basketball a top
ranking in the polls is more of a curse than a badge of honor.
Indiana was the latest victim last night in
Champaign, Illinois losing to Illinois 74-72.
That will be the easiest buzzer beater Illinois
senior forward Tyler Griffey will ever make.

MINNEAPOLIS Seemingly every night in the Big Ten, there's a big shot or a thrilling finish.
Saturday, it was Wisconsin taking down No. 3 Michigan in overtime thanks in part to a last-second halfcourt shot. Two days earlier, it was unranked Illinois knocking off the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers on a wide-open layup at the buzzer by Tyler Griffey.
Now, the No. 18 Gophers get...
There’s just no time to relax in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers were reminded of that the hard way on Thursday night, squandering a 14 point lead to an inferior Illinois team, and ultimately losing at the buzzer, 74-72.
