The differences between Michigan and Tennessee were striking as both teams ran onto the floor at Time Warner Cable Arena for their round of 32 NCAA tournament game last March. The Vols were markedly bigger and stronger at almost every position. As Michigan struggled with Tennessee’s size and athletic advantage early, missing 12 shots in the first eight minutes and falling behind...
ED. NOTE: Some Michigan "fans" are using the loss to MSU as the opening they craved to question Hoke's hiring -- still (absolute dumbest tweet I've seen by an alleged U-M fan this week: In the next 2 years I know that Hoke will underperform what RR would have done. After that I have no idea). But we here at the MZone still believe. That's why the post below...
Michigan senior captain Stu Douglass sat down with the media recently discuss the hunger of this year's team, the position he'll play thid season, how the 2011 squad differs from the 2009 squad that failed to live up to expectations, his impressions of the freshman guards, and much much more.
BENNY HILL APPROVES
If only more Big Ten plays were cued up to Benny Hill. Backup Michigan QB Devin Gardner came in on Saturday when Denard Robinson went out with an injury. While he did some good things, he also did had one instance where he ran forward for an 8-yard gain and backwards for an 18-yard loss, [...]
We were told it would only be one game, remember? When it was announced that Michigan would be wearing "Throwback" jerseys for the Notre Dame game this year, fans were told it was a one shot deal. Something "special" for the first night game in Big House history. We hated them. And we weren't alone. As Brian at MGoBlog said:Tomorrow we'll enter the...
Forward Evan Smotrycz has been the biggest surprise through the first week of Michigan basketball practice. Not because he's displaying the offensive flashes shown near the end of last season, but because his body is now prepared to deal with major college basketball.
Well, it wasn’t the game we all had hoped for, but at least one person can come away with an ounce of happiness. The1tab pulled of an unprecedented worst to first to capture this week’s prize, a copy of John U. Bacon’s Three and Out. The book gets released next Tuesday, so the bye week gives plenty of time for the1tab to look forward to reading it.
The question that won this...
Michigan coach Brady Hoke has no interest in revisiting the punch from MSU defensive end William Gholston to U-M lineman Taylor Lewan's helmet from last Saturday's 28-14 MSU win.
John Beilein addressed the media before practice this afternoon and discussed everything from what he’s seen out of the freshmen to his expectations for this year’s squad, noting that Michigan’s goal should always be to win a championship. Here’s video of what the Beilein had to say before the team’s sixth practice of the season.

Now in his fifth year at Michigan, John Beilein is seeing results in team leadership. One example came in a huddle this week, when assistant coach Bacari Alexander was explaining an issue. At the same time, sophomore forward Jordan Morgan was showing true freshman Max Bielfeldt something else.

Some things that are inevitable are impossible to call until they happen. Like that Google AdSense would eventually find the perfect sponsor to reach the massive and growing audience of Michigan/cat readers. Or that Michigan would eventually run a fake from the FB dive.
It's 4th and short. Michigan has cut MSU's lead to 7 and has the...

Stu Douglass is the most polarizing player to discuss on the Michigan basketball team. Common perception of players like Tim Hardaway Jr., Zack Novak or Evan Smotrycz is relatively homogenous. Everyone agrees that Hardaway is great player, recognizes Novak’s...
