Bush League Chronicle:
Wisconsin Badgers junior guard Ben Brust is definitely going to be the big man on campus Saturday night after coming up with two clutch shots against No. 3 Michigan. The first came at the end of regulation as time expired to help send the game into overtime. Brust took the inbounds pass and proceeded to launch a prayer around mid-court, which just so happened to find the bottom of the net. Thus, sending the Wisconsin home crowd into shear joy.Later, Brust nailed another three-point shot with under a minute to go in overtime, this time from closer range, to give the Badgers a lead. They would go on to win by a final score of 65-62 to pull off the improbable upset.Yeah, what a day for Brust. He finished with 14 points, but six of them came in key moments. His game-winning shot can be seen around the 1:20 mark in the clip after the page break.
BEST OF MAXIM
MADISON, Wis. Ben Brust's half-court heave garnered he and the Wisconsin basketball program plenty of buzz in the past 48 hours. On Monday, it helped him earn Big Ten co-Player of the Week honors.
Brust, the 6-foot-1 junior from Hawthorne Woods, Ill., shared the honor with Illinois guard D.J. Richardson. He became the first Badgers player to earn the player of the week award...
Wheeee! (Is it just us, or does the P.A announcer literally say "Wheeeee" after the shot?) That's Ben Brust of Wisconsin hitting one of his four threes on the day, and getting Wisconsin into an overtime against #3-ranked Michigan. Well, formerly #3-ranked Michigan. The Badgers outscored the Wolverines 5-2 in the overtime, and that was that, another college basketball...
Wisconsin won in dramatic fashion thanks to Ben Brust... at least that's what the headlines will tell you. Yes, it's true Brust hit the game tying three pointer from just inside the halfcourt strie and yes it's true that Brust hit the game winning three pointer with 39.6 seconds remaining.
However, when you hit the rewind button on this game there's a play that...
Junior guard Ben Brust scored a team-high 14 points, including a three-pointer just past halfcourt at the end of regulation and the game-winning three in overtime, to lead Wisconsin to a 65-62 overtime victory over No.3 Michigan Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center.
MADISON, Wis. -- Ben Brust hit a shot from just inside midcourt to tie the game at the end of regulation and added a tie-breaking 3 with less than 40 seconds left in overtime as Wisconsin beat No. 3 Michigan 65-62 on Saturday.
What a week in the Big Ten. Scratch that, what a weekend in the Big Ten. Ben Brust beats Michigan on Saturday, Indiana goes on the road and gets a big win at Ohio State, and Illinois finishes a strong week with a win at Minnesota on Sunday. You never know what to expect on any given night. I guess that’s why they call it the best conference in college basketball.
12. Penn State...
MADISON - Ben Brust was certainly the hero, hitting a three-point shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, but the complete team effort given by Wisconsin in its win over No.3 Michigan can't be ignored. Badger Nation hands out the grades.
With only 2.4 seconds left on the clock, Wisconsin Badgers junior guard Ben Brust made one of the most memorable shots in the history of the program. Brust took an inbound pass from teammate Mike Bruesewitz at half-court, turned the corner and hit a game-tying 40 foot running jump-shot at the buzzer with a Michigan defender draped all over him.
Not only did he hit one of the best...
Michigan fans have got to hate seeing the ball in the hands of a Wisconsin sharp-shooter with the game on the line in the waning seconds of the game. Why? Well, on Saturday Ben Brust did this to put the game into OT:
All that proceeded this was Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. hitting a clutch trey of his own to virtually seal the deal - or so most thought. Too bad they forgot...
Hitting one dagger three-point shot wasn't enough for junior guard Ben Brust, who followed up his halfcourt buzzer beater to send the game to overtime with the game-winning three-point shot with 39.6 seconds remaining, giving Wisconsin a 65-62 victory over No.3 Michigan Saturday.
The (regulation) finish to the Michigan-Wisconsin Big 10 basketball game on Saturday in Madison was absolutely insane.
First, Michigan star Tim Hardaway Jr. (yes, son of that Tim Hardaway) drained a difficult three-point shot to put the No. 3 Wolverines up 60-57 with 2.4 seconds to go in regulation.
However, on the next play, Wisconsin's Ben Brust made a much more incredible...

No. 3 Michigan was stunned in Madison Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Badgers 65-62 in overtime after some clutch three pointers from Wisconsin’s Ben Brust.
Clutch though may be an understatement.
After a big three in the second half from Tim Hardaway Jr. to give the Wolverines a 60-57 lead, Brust was able to hit a 40-foot prayer as time expired to send the game to overtime...
