Nolan Conaway, 14, is a huge Texas Longhorn fan. Nolan lives in Cypress, Texas and painted his bedroom Longhorn white and burnt orange. More importantly Nolan overcame cancer. About a year ago, Nolan was diagnosed with a fast-growing tumor growing outside the left side of his head. Doctors removed a golf-ball sized tumor and a fist-sized chunk of skull from Nolan’s head. After a difficult year and 29 chemotherapy sessions Nolan is celebrating being cancer free. “It’s been a long year for him,” said neurosurgeon Robert Bollo, M.D., with Texas Children’s Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine. “Having his skull taken apart, having to wear a helmet and go through chemotherapy and he’s finally on the other side. So we’re really happy for him.” When KHOU News asked the cancer-free Longhorn fan if he had any advice for his beloved Longhorns, Nolan laughed and answered, “Yes sir. Fire Mack Brown!” Hook ‘em Nolan! The Conaways are now part of a petition at Change.org asking the NFL and Major League Baseball to consider adopting “gold” as their color of choice during September. Just as “pink” is used to raise awareness for breast cancer research, gold ribbons are used to publicize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Big season coming for David Ash in 2013

Texas needs a big 2013 from David Ash. Big things are coming for Texas in 2013: Especially for Junior quarterback David Ash. I’m not calling for an improvement over his sophomore campaign.
