        I think the same company that built this one also built one in Philly that collapsed during a storm. Heard something about it on ESPN this morning.

  It isn`t about loving a team or hating it, it`s about a fellow human being in trouble, in pain, and with the promise of a full life, in tatters. We can each say that Mr. Behm didn`t deserve this to happen to him, but only our Creator knows that for sure. I`ll pray for Mr. Behm and for understanding.

  It doesn't matter what football team you root for on Sundays when it comes to something like this. It matters that another HUMAN BEING has been critically injured. My prayers are with the families and those who have been injured. What a sickening tragedy to hear a 33 year old scout will be paralyzed for the rest of his life. This practice facility is an embarrassment to the Cowboys organization, and the facilities of ALL facilities of ALL teams in the league. There is absolutely no excuse that heavy wind should have brought down a structure like this. Yea smell a lawsuit allright, and Obviously corners were cut in the construction and/or upkeep of this facility. I hope the injured get every penny they are seeking and then some. The possible corner cutting of billionaires is absolutely inexcusable. And I hope whoever is responsible for this tragedy loses every penny they have, and rightly so. This is absolutely sickening.

    And even in a lawsuit, there is no price that exists that covers the loss of using half of your body. Everybody loses in a situation like this, especially the young injured coaches/staff that will have to deal with the pain and suffering and a complete change of life as he knew it for the rest of his days.

  Kinda puts things into perspective doesn't it? As much as people dislike or like a team,When something like happens it makes you Appreciate the value of life even more,so I pray for each individual that they are fine and weren't shooking up by this unfortunate event and those that were injured may they have a speedy recovery..

  who makes buildings out of metal poles and giant plastic sheets in tornado country? especially when the stadium cost $1bil???

    Speedwell, almost every team in the league has those types of structures for indoor practice facilities. It's strange, because we had a storm there last year that was worse than the one that came through on Saturday and nothing was done to the structure at that time, but for some reason, it did this time. Microburst winds just happened to come down right on top of the structure. There are sturdier structures that would have sustained damage in one of those instances.

  you never want to see something like that happen, it doesnt matter what team you root for. You have to wonder though, why were they in there to begin with? With 64mph winds and a tornado warning they should have been in a safe place. Having a tornado warning in Philadelphia is one thing but a tornado warning in Texas is a whole different story.

    Rusty, I live within 3 miles of the facility. There was no tornado WARNING. There were severe thunderstorm watches out at the time and the storms were rolling through the metro area, but no sirens went off and there was no warning. I think it happened so fast, nobody had any real time to react. It's has been raining and also been windy for days down here. I was out yesterday morning cutting up a big tree that went down in my neighbor's yard and fell into my yard. There is not weather warning system that I know of inside that structure. If the sirens don't go off, then everyone assumes there is nothing coming but a little wind and rain. Funny, I was at work about 20 miles northeast of the Cowboy facility and the sirens went off here after everything had already passed. A little late.

        There were tornado warnings in some areas of the metroplex, but not in that particular area. They probably should have put out one because it looked really bad rolling in Saturday afternoon.

        What I hate is that anytime someone comes up with a better warning system, there is always some county commissioner or freeholder that`ll argue against it, usually citing some extra cost, or some years old study that stated that such a system wasn`t necessary. Tell that to the Behm family

        We have a fairly good warning system, but it's weather. Those things can come up so suddenly, we just cannot prepare for them.

  I'm not sure if the other facility that was built by this company was in Philly that collapsed, but there is atleast one more of these things that had the same failure as the one in Dallas. I must agree though, a structure in Dallas should have special specifications for tornadoes or tornado like storms. The same blue print used on a facility for a team like the Giants for example, should not be used for a structure built in the part of the country that is notorious for nasty storms and tornadoes. I dunno people are accusing the team weatherman, the company, some even Jerry Jones (who I'm sure has people on the payroll who are responsible for determining these kinds of things and not Jerry himself). So right now it's really easy to point the finger, but until some sort of investigation is completed to determine who exactly is to blame, it is a little premature to do so. Well, I'm sure in any case the blame will atleast be partially the responsibility of the company who now has a pattern of these things collapsing, but beyond that it probably isn't fair to accuse one person of being responsible (but when a tragedy like this happens, having a ton of emotions running through your body most of us, including myself are already pointing the finger at someone)

  Don`t forget Bill Parcells, it was his idea to build the damn thing in the first place. I understand the why: to keep the spying eyes of other teams from seeing the practice sessions. But, from the videos showing it collapsing, it looked pretty flimsy. You are correct `kid`, in your assessment of not building the same structure in `tornadoville` that you would in the northeast. At the very least, there should have been stronger guywires anchoring that thing to the ground. Check out the vid that BobBlitz is showing elsewhere in YB. What bothers me there is that you see the lights `dancing` under the ceiling, but everyone on the ground are just standing around under them and watching. When something that heavy starts doing a cha-cha, you get out of there as fast as you can.

  Wow...I just saw that Dallas's facility is one of the cheapest and weakest, structurally speaking, that there is. The structure in Philly has a concrete foundation along with cinder block walls and the only part that is actually plastic is the top of the roof. That is pretty ridiculous that Philly has a much better and structurally sound building than Dallas in tornado country. Looks like there will be lawsuits aimed at more than one party. No excuse for the most lucrative team to cut corners when it comes to safety. Such an avoidable tragedy and now a 33 year old will never walk again, and luckily noone was killed.

  Yea I hate saying things "could have been worse" when some young man will never walk again, but truth is, it absolutely could have been worse. I just dont want to diminish the horrific injury to the young scout. I hope that a little bit of a positive can be taken from this tragedy and teams can learn from this and make sure something like this NEVER happens again. And yes, thank God that it was not a full house, bc if there would have been a large amount of people in there, it is not a matter of "if" it would have been worse, but how much worse it wouldve been.

    I remember that there was also an accident involving a crane during the construction of Dallas new stadium, was anyone killed or seriously injured in that incident? I don't remember anything being serious but I never like to depend on my terrible memory too much.

        Damn...thats terrible. What is going on there in Dallas? Thats a couple tragedies in just such a short amount of time. I hope that this marks the end of the injuries and deaths.

    I feel what your saying gblack. But heres what I don't understand. Theres probably half a dozen comments on this post that start off with "as much as I hate the Cowboys" and it really seems unnecessary in circumstances like this. Just because you have compassion for another human being does not mean people will start accusing you of being a traitor or a Cowboys fan. You guys can just give your condolences and best wishes without using a disclaimer first delaring your hate for the Cowboys, that really shouldn't matter at all right now.

      I understand your point Apollokid, but disagree. I really didn't want to start a debate with someone on this article, but I feel since now you've called me out on my comment, I need to say something. If you go back into articles in the past, a lot of the people you are referring to that put that "disclaimer" in (which includes myself) have always been outspoken against Dallas. That's the reasoning for the disclaimer. I really really really don't like Dalllas, but because of this tradgedy, I think the disclaimer is a quick way of saying, "Sports aside and rivilaries aside, this situation sucks". I wanted to say something from the heart So please don't piss on someone's respectful comments. I meant nothing by the disclaimer and I feel horrible that someone could have been injured like this. If I had the opportunity and go and write it again, it would have been the same.

  Now that I think of it, part of the footage from the initial video release showed a section of wall with a door in it lifting away from the ground. What I don`t remember seeing, was a foundation under that wall. Maybe BB or Robbo knows, is there a tax ratable difference in Big D, if a building doesn`t have a permanent foundation?

  i'm so glad to look through here and not see any "ha ha" or negative comments...much more respect than was apparently shown by eagles fans and cowboy haters alike on the dallas website message boards...i'm starting to really like yardbarker because of the general amount of respect shown to people for or against your team/opinion...
