Alabama has cinched a commitment who can help a part of the Crimson Tide’s offense that will need reassurance in the future: The front line. Last week, Minnesota native, JC Hassenauer rose to the top of the prospect pool as a top performer at Nike’s prospect camp, “The Opening”. After quickly accepting Alabama’s scholarship offer, the 6’2″ 290 pound center could finally start picturing his future in crimson. But he could also start imagining playing a key role where the tide could need him the most. According to 247Sports he is ranked the 7th best center in the country. But Hassenauer isn’t satisfied. “I’m trying to be the best center in the country right now,” he said while at the Nike camp. “That’s my goal.” Hassenauer knows he still needs work. This summer he says he is focusing on sticking to his work out plan, perfecting everything from footwork to speed and strength. “Like I said my goal is to be the best center in the country and in order to be the best center I have to reach mini goals to get there so, just trying to work on everything,” he said. While he was at the elite camp he also got one on one time with NFL pros. When asked what kind of feedback he got, he wasn’t exactly full of answers, but did say they spoke about social media (too bad Johnny Manziel hasn’t been listening). While Hassenaur isn’t exactly the most verbose interview in the world, (watch his interview here) he does seems totally amped about coming to the university. When reporters asked if there was a possibility of him changing his mind, he didn’t even hesitate. “No, I’m committed to Alabama.” Strong conviction, and hopefully a future strong center for the tide. If he does fufill his commitment, he and JK Scott (from Colorado) will be only the second players for Alabama to represent their respective state.
