Art Briles with Lennay Kekua.
Baylor head football Art Briles is a smart man. Earlier in the week, Ryan Russilo of ESPN's SVP & Rusillo show asked Briles if he wanted to "take this time now and maybe say something negative about the SEC to get that thing stoked up again?" like Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops did earlier this year.
Briles gracefully declined, saying ""I don't know how you could. I mean I learned a long time ago, the only guy that remembers second place is the one that got it." He also added that the SEC had "a great job. They put they're brand on the table, and they've walked
away with all the chips. What can you say? Until someone beats them,
that's the way it's going to be."
It's too bad Bob Stoops can't be as smart as Briles is.

Bleacher Report has ranked the Oklahoma Sooners offensive line number five out of ten teams. It is an interesting ranking as the Sooner’s offensive line has a lot of returning experienced players and a load of incoming talent. This is important, as the Sooners will be employing some zone-read along with the spread this year. So, the offense will be very dependent on a strong...
Here is a detailed preview of the Oklahoma Sooners’ return to South Bend this fall from an Irish perspective. They provide a detailed preview of the Sooners in all phases of the game. Truth #2 - On October3, 1977, OU’s Billy Sims made the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Truth #3 - The 1977 Oklahoma Sooners had a 10–2 overall record...
While folks much smarter than me ponder the supposed Big12 conspiracy against the SEC, it is amazing the high level in which the Oklahoma athletic programs compete at, while ranking amongst the nation’s best in academics. The pride, dedication and commitment that the University of Oklahoma’s Athletic Department puts on academics is not only admirable, but has become a strong...
With Bob Stoops heading into his 15th season at Oklahoma, Sporting News columnist Matt Hayes recently sat down with the Sooners' head coach to reflect on his tenure. Hayes joined Homerism for a podcast to talk about his impressions of where things stand with Stoops as he closes in on becoming OU's all-time winningest coach.
Hayes and I discuss:
