National Championship- Alabama vs Oregon
Alabama is still a lock for me in the National Championship. Nobody can stop them. On the other hand, Oregon has some leap-frogging to do if they want to reach this game, but they have a great opportunity to do so with strong opponents for the remainder of the season. I’ve said for a couple weeks now that, if Oregon, Kansas State, and Notre Dame all win out, Oregon would still find themselves ranked 2nd in the BCS standings (assuming Alabama doesn’t lose).
Fiesta Bowl- Kansas State vs Notre Dame
This could very possibly be a battle of unbeatens. I think Kansas State will go on to win the Big 12, getting an automatic spot in this game. And the Fiesta Bowl gets first choice of an at-large team. I think even a 1-loss Notre Dame team qualifies and is selected.
Sugar Bowl- Florida vs Rutgers
Since Alabama will be going to the National Championship, that leaves Florida as the replacement in the Sugar Bowl. I was very torn between the Gators and Bulldogs last week for my selections, but I think I saw enough in that game to put my faith in Florida. I think a lot of people fell off the Rutgers bandwagon after last week, but I still think they will win the Big East and be selected by the Sugar Bowl.
Orange Bowl- Florida State vs Boise State
Florida State might be the most secure lock to win their conference. The Seminoles are playing great football and will find themselves winning the ACC and playing in the Orange Bowl. Boise State certainly isn’t getting all the national attention they’re used to, but these Broncos are still a solid team. They will be the last at-large team selected.
Rose Bowl- Nebraska vs USC
Nebraska now controls their fate all the way into the conference championship game, in which they will win and represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl. With Oregon in the National Championship, most people put Oregon State ahead of USC for the fill in spot. But I think otherwise. The Trojans are too talented to not make it here.
