BLACKSBURG, VA -- Logan Thomas completed only 15 of his first 32 pass attempts in Monday night's season-opener versus Georgia Tech. But the junior quarterback made good on his final six attempts to lead Virginia Tech to a 20-17 overtime victory at Lane Stadium. Overall, it was a decent performance from Thomas, whom some pundits believe can eventually work his way into the Heisman Trophy race. But Hokies coach Frank Beamer defended his star some after seeing a slightly different performance from Thomas. And with some tweaking, it appears he imagines a much more productive offense moving forward. "We were just more efficient," Beamer said, in somewhat choppy sentences. "We had some good plays but dropped some balls and overthrew a couple of them... "We couldn't get into a good rhythm for ourselves. And give them credit... We did some pretty good stuff there late." There were several dropped passes that would have made a big difference and possib...

No. 16 Hokies back to leading with their defense

Virginia Tech is going back to its defense-first roots. For all the talk about quarterback Logan Thomas and his potential to be in the Heisman Trophy discussion, the No. 16 Hokies will rely on Bud Foster's defense first, starting with Monday night's season-opening game against ACC Coastal Division rival Georgia Tech and its explosive triple option. Yellow Jackets coach...

Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech grow up in win

Thomas, Hokies figure things out late in Week 1, which could mean great things come November.

Frank Beamer's halftime interview interrupted by a Paul Johnson timeout

In tonight's Week 1 finale between ACC rivals Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech, we saw a weird bit of gamesmanship before halftime. GT coach Paul Johnson must have not liked the cut of VT's jib as they walked off the field, because he called a timeout to stop the clock... while Frank Beamer was being interviewed by ESPN. That's right, a coach successfully broke...

Cody Journell Steals Win in Blacksburg!!

But he's not going to jail for this one!Plenty more to come on this craptastic-turned-awesome game. But for now...Dear Paul Johnson...  Screw off and die, you classless, cheap ass little *****.Know who was a real man? The Shermanator.LET'S GO HOKIES!!

This Virginia Tech fan may not have wanted to do this on TV

This Virginia Tech fan may want to take this one as a mulligan. Georgia Tech leads them right now but VT could come back for a last second field go. VT already missed a field goal. The kicker has just been iced. We’ll see what happens. Virginia Tech will probably still win but this was a close one. General rule of thumb, never bring out the keys.

Virginia Tech’s “T” was stolen

Apparently some Georgia Tech fans were not happy with the way the Virginia Tech game turned out on Monday and decided to remove the “T” from Virginia Tech’s sign. I’m sure the Hokies will have this fixed in no time but it will probably rile up their fan base. VT defeated GT in overtime after Tevin Washington through a costly interception. The Hokies kicked a field goal in...

Virginia Tech stadium sign vandalized. Georgia Tech fans suspected.

Total Jacket Move. Photo via AJC. Kleptomania runs wild in Blacksburg, Va. Or at least it did last Monday night.  The sign in front of Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium was vandalized sometime after the Hokies season-opening overtime win over Georgia Tech. As you can tell from the above photo, the "T" in the word "stadium" Georgia Tech supporters...
