PLAYERS: Bob Stoops
TEAMS: Oklahoma Sooners
Bob Stoops should just accept the next job that opens up in the South Eastern Conference. Stoops envy for the conference that has dominated the BCS for almost a decade is beyond evident.  Stoops again took a shot at the SEC and their defenses during a small gathering with local Sooners beat writers. Stoops was asked about the landscape of the Big 12, and he used that time to direct his comments towards the SEC again according to Saturday’s Down South.  “Just a few years ago, we had all the quarterbacks,” Stoops said. “And now, all of a sudden, we can play a little better defense and some other people can’t play defense. “Funny how people can’t play defense when they have pro-style quarterbacks over there, which we’ve had. They’re all playing in the NFL right now.” Stoops as only he could, obnoxiously insinuated that SEC defenses were really good prior to the last two seasons because the quarterbacks in the conference weren’t good. He essentially is saying that now that Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and a few other schools have quarterbacks, SEC defenses simply aren’t good anymore. After another reporter told Stoops the SEC has two quarterbacks ranked in the top 10 in passing efficiency, Stoops again answered with an obnoxious response. “How’s that happening playing all those SEC defenses?” Stoops asked the reporters. “I still don’t know how A&M was third in the country in total offense and scoring offense playing all those SEC defenses. I have no idea how that happened. “Oh, they’ve got a quarterback, that’s right.” Bob Stoops needs to stop.  SEC defenses are still the most dominant in america.  They simply are playing against top flight SEC offenses. Those same SEC defenses that look average against their own conference competition, absolute dominate Big 12, Pac 12, and Big 10 competition every time they battle. Bob Stoops needs to quit being moist.

Bob Stoops rips on SEC defenses

A few years ago, the SEC was all about defense. Low-scoring games were the norm, and it wasn’t because the offenses were necessarily inept, it is just that Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida were all that good defensively. SEC games…Read more →

Bob Stoops Is Obnoxiously Ripping SEC Defenses, Again

Bob Stoops should just accept the next job that opens up in the South Eastern Conference. Stoops envy for the conference that has dominated the BCS for almost a decade is beyond evident.  Stoops again took a shot at the SEC and their defenses during a small gathering with local Sooners beat writers. Stoops questions Southeastern Conference dominance

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is questioning the overall strength of the Southeastern Conference. Stoops, according to a report in The Oklahoman, smiled on Wednesday while sarcastically discussing the performances of SEC defenses this season. The Sooners coach had previously said much of the league's reputation was driven by ''propaganda.'' No. 1 Alabama won the...

Bob Stoops takes another shot at the SEC, calls out the league’s defenses

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops should be focused on Saturday’s game against TCU, but instead he is taking shots at the SEC yet again.

NCAAF Contender/Pretender After September: Oklahoma

Much like every year under Bob Stoops, the Oklahoma Sooners entered the fall with high expectations. In what was scheduled to be a wide-open Big XII race, the Sooners have moved right to the front of the conference.  Oklahoma competes for the Big XII year in and year out it seems, but they haven’t contended in a national title chase for a while. Is this the year that the Sooners...

Stoops May Be On To Something About SEC (Div 1A Winning Percentage Since 2000)

Since 2000 (the new millennium), the Sooners are second in overall winning percentage and have played the most games, mainly because they have played in more championship and national title games. Below is the top ten and you can go to this Stassen link (Cool Site: Stats by to see the rest of the teams and their rankings. Interestingly enough, the comments Bob Stoops...

Bob Stoops’ SEC envy surfaces again

Tweet For some reason, Oklahoma Sooners head football coach Bob Stoops just can’t seem to let go of his obsession with taking shots at SEC football. A few months ago, Stoops went on a rant about the SEC’s dominance of the BCS, calling it “propaganda”. Now, Stoops is jabbing SEC schools’ defenses, which for years […]

Bob Stoops rips SEC’s defense

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has always felt the need to compare the Big 12 conference to the SEC. Most people consider the SEC to be the best conference in college football, but Stoops has made arguments for the Big 12 in the past. He was back at it again on Wednesday, this time criticizing the […]

Bob Stoops Has SEC Envy Once Again

Bloggers tends to say (type) whatever they want in the hopes that people will want to see what they have to say. Sometimes they have to say outlandish things in order to attract an audience. FBS Head Coaches don't have that problem so you would think they might filter what they say just a little bit. That is certainly not the case with Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops...

Oklahoma Football: Sooners look to continue hot start versus TCU

The No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners (4-0, 1-0 Big) came into the season, looking at this three-game stretch and realized, if they could get over this obstacle, then the rest of the season may turn out pretty good. Of course, head coach Bob Stoops is taking it one game at a time. Oklahoma, coming off a rare win against Notre Dame, comes back to Norman to host the TCU Horned Frogs (2-2, 0...

How much should Blake Bell run for the Sooners?

NORMAN, Okla. - Now that Oklahoma has expanded its ways, moving from a throwing quarterback to a quarterback who can throw and run, it's time to wonder just how much the Sooners want Blake Bell using his legs. Some? A lot? Somewhere in between? Well, having a dual-threat QB is a luxury, for sure, but having a dual-threat QB who is hurt, doesn't do anybody any good. And...

Gundy agrees with Stoops' thoughts on SEC

Bob Stoops took another jab at the SEC, and one of his biggest rivals agrees with him. Bob Stoops turned heads this summer when he questioned the SEC's conference strength, and pointed to "propoganda" for some of the league's reputation and championed the Big 12 as a deeper league. With the SEC's defenses struggling to stop some offenses this season, Stoops...

Sooners remember TCU's win back in '05

It has only happened five times during Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops' 15-year tenure, but occasionally another team comes to town and beats the Sooners on their home field. TCU was one of those teams, stunning the Sooners 17-10 in the 2005 season opener. Most of the players who will be on the field Saturday, when No. 11 Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) hosts TCU (2-2, 0-1), have few ...

TCU-Oklahoma Preview

The three-game stretch with Notre Dame, TCU and Texas in successive weeks loomed large for No. 11 Oklahoma at the start of the season. Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) dispatched some of the program's demons by winning 35-21 last Saturday at then-No. 22 Notre Dame. Now the Sooners want to avoid a letdown Saturday against TCU (2-2, 0-1), which has struggled at times after entering...
