After just two days of deliberations, the jury came to a verdict in the Jerry Sandusky case Friday night - guilty. He was found guilty on 45 of the 48 counts brought forward as reported by the New York Times and CNN.

Sandusky never took the witness stand in his own defense and infamous defense attorney Joe Amendola admitted he would have "died of a heart attack" had Sandusky been acquitted on all charges.

The Jerry Sandusky story, trial, and everything that has happened at Penn State in the past year has been a saga that gripped the nation for its shocking nature and tragic circumstances. We've seen Penn State rocked to its core with the Joe Paterno era coming to an end and his death soon thereafter. But as the Sandusky scandal developed, the focus seemed to shift. It was a story that saw its genesis in sports last fall, focusing on the former Penn State defensive coordinator, but quickly developed into a national news story about the horrors of child abuse with implications far more important than sports.

Tonight, justice has been done and hopefully the victims can find some semblance of closure. Jerry Sandusky will spend the rest of his life in prison and maybe healing can begin.
