This Saturday the Broncos will be traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss, in the Broncos’ final nonconference game of the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. (MT) and will be televised locally on ROOT Sports. The Broncos (3-1, 1-0 MW) have won both meetings in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles (0-4, 0-1 C-USA), with the last one in 2008 where the Broncos prevailed 24-7.

Southern Miss is not a push over and will be a tough opponent for the Broncos. Last week the Golden Eagles played nationally-ranked Louisville losing 21-17. Southern Miss surrendered the go-ahead touchdown with 5:35 to play, only after punter Peter Boehme slipped on the rain soaked field causing him to shank the kick for a six yard gain. This gave Louisville tremendous field position leading them to the winning score.

Preparing for Southern Miss attention must be given to the Broncos defense. Bronco Nation has to be wondering which Boise State defense will show up? The one that held BYU's offense to 200 yards or the one that surrendered 330 yards to New Mexico. Maybe we should give the Broncos a pass for last weekend. Any defense coordinator will tell you they don't sleep well and have nightmares when preparing for the triple option. This weekend the defense will face a team that has been inconsistent in their run offense.  However last week the Gold Eagles did get the running game going rushing for 224 yards against the Cardinals.
