The Cleveland Browns are down to their third-string quarterback. With both Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy missing practice Wednesday due to right shoulder injuries, Thad Lewis took first-team snaps in practice. Elevated from the practice squad on Monday, Lewis could make his NFL debut in Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Browns also signed free agent quarterback Josh Johnson, who spent four seasons in Tampa Bay. Johnson replaced safety Usama Young on the roster as the Browns look for protection at quarterback, where starter Weeden went out with a sprained right shoulder in Cleveland's 34-12 loss in Denver on Sunday. Coach Pat Shurmur said Wednesday that McCoy also has a sore right shoulder. Neither Weeden nor McCoy practiced. Rookie running back Trent Richardson also missed practice because of a sprained left ankle. ''The injuries to Brandon and Trent are not as serious as you might have thought,'' Shumur said. ''We'll see how they come back. If they are ...

Cleveland Browns Offensive Woes Not From Lack Of Talent

The Browns will finish off the 2012 season against the Steelers this Sunday in Pittsburgh.  After the game ends, we will not have to wait long to see Pat Shurmur fired.  Tom Heckert should follow him out the door shortly after.  And with that, the Haslam and Banner era of Cleveland Browns football will begin.Rumors are already running wild about how the Browns will hire as their...

Browns vs. Steelers Reader’s Survey

It’s going to be the toughest game to predict all year in all likelihood. The Browns and Steelers don’t have anything to play for but pride and paychecks. The teams are a mystery right now at least on the Browns’ side of the equation as Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson and even Colt McCoy are questionable at best and out in all probability. It could be the last game as a member...

Change almost a certainty for Browns

The season is about to end for the Browns, and usually that means change is next. Two weeks ago, Cleveland still had a chance to make the playoffs. But two straight lopsided losses and a slew of injuries have placed the Browns in a familiar predicament as they prepare for Sunday's season finale at Pittsburgh. Coach Pat Shurmur is likely to be replaced next week, and new owner...

Browns' Josh Cribbs apologizes for profane tweet

Josh Cribbs has apologized for his profane tweet following the Cleveland Browns' latest loss. WFNY Podcast – 2012-12-27 – Craig talks to frequent talk radio caller Hiram about the Browns

Most anyone who has listened to sports talk radio in Cleveland is familiar with Hiram. I know him on Twitter now too and decided I wanted to talk to him a little bit about what drives him to call so much. How he arrives at his thoughts on the Browns and why he can be so aggressive attacking local hosts. After following him for a while I find him to be a different kind of thinker...

Browns fans are very familiar with ugly season-ending games

So who is the backup for the backup? As Scott told us today, Thad Lewis, recently called up from the practice squad, got the first team reps today in Berea. That’s right. Not Brandon Weeden with a bum shoulder. Not Colt McCoy, also with a bum shoulder. Thaddeus Lewis. Just a reminder, Lewis is a 25-year-old from Duke with a much-heralded arm and some decent athletic ability. He’s...

“Road Tested” still entertaining, still giving hope

Jimmy Haslam and Joe Banner were Photoshopped into the 2012 Cleveland Browns team photo at his direction. Not only is that a true statement, but Haslam chronicled it on the new documentary TV show, “Road Tested,” about the Cleveland Browns. Last night’s episode handled the Browns’ losses to the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos. The losing isn’t what’s important...
