Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd decided to come back to school to compete for a national championship, though many believe he also has a shot to win the Heisman Trophy – he’s that good of a player. But if you ask Clemson’s Sports Information Director, Tim Bourret, the school isn’t planning on putting together any type of “hype” campaign to help Boyd out, as many other schools have in the past. His stance on the matter? Per Brett McMurphy: Clemson SID TIm Bourret said no plans to promote Tajh Boyd for Heisman: “Who ESPN talks about determines who wins Heisman” — Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) July 21, 2013 Of course, we all wish that major awards like the Heisman Trophy were decided solely by play on the field. But the reality is that public perception does play into what the voters think of a player – and a lot of that has to do with TV coverage. It’s hard to argue with Bourret – ESPN is the most dominant in its field and its college football coverage is the best in the business. What do you think about his comment?
