Champs of the Week:1.     Wisconsin RB’s- 527 rushing yards, 8 TD’sIs Wisconsin’s rushing attack that good, or is Nebraska that bad? While the Cornhuskers might be the worst 10-3 football team in the history of college football, Montee Ball and Co. were that good on Saturday night as they claimed a third-straight trip to the Rose Bowl in the win. Ball, James White and Melvin Gordon combined to rush for 527 yards and eight touchdowns in the blowout win. The surprise here was Gordon who had 216 yards. Only a freshman, Gordon should be a player to watch for next season with Ball off to the NFL.2.     Jordan Lynch, QB, Northern Illinois- 372 total yards, 4 TD’sIs this guy something else or what? Lynch successfully replaced one of the best quarterbacks in school history, lead his team to a second-straight conference title, accounted for at least one score in every game this season, broke Denard Robinson’s single season record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a season, accounted for ...

Bret Bielema headed to Arkansas

The college football coaching carousel was in full swing on Tuesday, with the Wisconsin coach heading down to Fayetteville to take the same position there.

Maybe We Shouldn't Let People Vote for the Heisman

You might have a problem with a freshman or strictly defensive player winning the Heisman for the first time this Saturday, but you're probably ok with Collin Klein, Manti Te'o and Johnny Manziel being invited to New York as finalists. All three have clearly separated themselves from the field over the last month and belong on stage this weekend, and all three have a legitimate...

Stanford, Wisconsin programs mirror image

David Shaw and Bret Bielema sidled up to each other in a Texas hotel last year at an awards banquet and struck up a conversation about how much each coach admired the other's football program. Perhaps it's no surprise that Shaw, the Stanford coach, and Bielema, the Wisconsin coach, hit it off. The similarities in their styles of play are obvious: Two pro-style offenses with...

For Badgers, starting PG is friendly competition

MADISON, Wis. A point guard change had been brewing at Wisconsin for a few games as the minutes between starter and backup significantly shifted. So when Badgers coach Bo Ryan read off the list of starting defensive assignments before Wisconsin's Nov. 28 game against Virginia, maybe it wasn't all that surprising that Traevon Jackson surpassed George Marshall in the rotation...

Wisconsin 86, Nebraska-Omaha 40

Wisconsin guard Ben Brust scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Wisconsin over Nebraska-Omaha 86-40 on Tuesday night. Brust was one of five Badgers (6-3) in double figures. Ryan Evans had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Jared Berggren scored 13, Frank Kaminsky had 11 and Sam Dekker chipped in with 10. Justin Simmons led Nebraska-Omaha (2-8) with...

Badgers Down Omaha 86-40

The Badgers (6-3) came out strong Tuesday night and defeated Nebraska Omaha (2-8) 86-40 at the Kohl Center on Friday. It was a great offensive showing for Wisconsin, who shot 48.6% from the field and really had the ball moving fluently throughout the game. The Badgers were fueled by a pair of double doubles from Ben Brust and Ryan Evans. Brust had 15 points and 10 rebounds, also...

Wisconsin Steamrolls Nebraska in Big Ten Championship Game

In an article I wrote earlier in the week, I picked the Nebraska Cornhuskers to beat the Wisconsin Badgers, 28-24, in the Big Ten Championship Game. Clearly, I was wrong. Wisconsin took Nebraska behind the woodshed en route to a Big Ten Championship Game victory. (Image credit: Brian Spurlock, US PRESSWIRE via USAToday.com) On Saturday night, the Wisconsin Badgers brutally dismantled...

Game Recap: U-No Chance

Wisconsin junior guard Ben Brust and senior forward Ryan Evans each post a double-double and Wisconsin forced 19 turnovers, as the Badgers roll over Nebraska-Omaha, 86-40, Tuesday night to close out the go 2-1 on the three game home stand.
