We are half way through the college football season and as we get into conference play we are about to see whom the pretenders and contenders really are. Teams know each other so well and while college football is an every changing game from offense to defense to roster turn over, playing teams within your conference is the toughest thing to do because simply every game is a rivalry game. Coaches know each other so well. This weeks featured games are pretty good and I look forward to viewing a few storylines in the process.

! Will N.C. State defeat Florida State Twice?

Florida State has fallen out of the top 10 after last week’s one point loss to N.C. State. Will they have a hangover going against Boston College who is an abysmal team or will this game light a fire within them and fuel them to finish the season strong.

2: Are the Gamecocks for real?

After shellacking Georgia last weekend, The Gamecocks go into Tiger Stadium, which is one of the loudest venues in college football, and they have the task of defeating a Les Miles team that doesn’t lose at home. Conner Shaw will have to play lights out and Marcus Lattimore will have to have a huge game for them to pull the win. LSU’s Defense is still strong but last week loosing at the hands of the Florida Gators running game poked a hole in the defense. Zach Mettenberger the Tigers QB will need to play better. He was supposed to be the missing piece in an offense that is very run heavy. With the athletes on the outside like Odell Beckum III and Russell Shepard, you have to be able to have the pocket awareness and to take a hit deliver the ball. The biggest thing to watch out for is that the LSU offensive line will be without three starts. The entire left side will be exposed and with guys like Jadaveon Clowney and Devin Taylor coming to town, this isn’t the game you want that to be the case.

 

Can West Virginia Keep It Up?

Quarterback Geno Smith is really lighting up the scoreboard and while everyone knows the numbers so it doesn’t make sense to bore you with redundant stats, the biggest thing that stands out for this team is that the defense is just terrible. This offense will have to play at this high level of play all season and at some point it just will hit a wall.  Lubbock, Texas is a weird quirky place and many teams never survive the visit here. I don’t think that this will be the week of the Moisteners demise but they will have to once again keep this offensive production up. This season feels allot like the 2010 season when Auburn and QB Cam Newton went all the way solely on the offenses production. The defense for that team very bad and only could make a play or two. That team won a national title and Cam Newton won a Heisman Trophy. This could be a similar year.
