Oregon Ducks true freshman running back Dante Dowdell has entered the transfer portal, a source tells Ducks Digest.

Dowdell appeared in 6 games and ran for 90 yards on 17 carries, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound running back will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

He was up for Oregon's No. 3 running back spot for a majority of the season with Bucky Irving and Jordan James serving as the primary running backs. Noah Whittington was also a key piece of Oregon's ground attack, but suffered a season-ending injury four games into the year.

Dowdell was one of two running backs the Ducks signed in the 2023 class along with Lake Stevens (Wash.) product Jayden Limar

He signed with Oregon as a four-star (0.9424 per 247Sports Composite) recruit in the 2023 class out of Picayune High School in Mississippi. He was ranked the No. 135 player nationally, the No. 6 running back and the No. 3 recruit in Mississippi.

With Bucky Irving declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, there's been speculation that Whittington will return to play next season after playing in only four games. Whittington and James would be the likely one-two punch.

Carlos Lockyln and the Ducks have one running back commit in the 2024 cycle in Washington, D.C. St. John's tailback Da'Jaun Riggs. They've also been recruiting Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei running back Nate Frazier, who's verbally committed to Georgia.
