PLAYERS: De'Anthony Thomas
TEAMS:

Steve Dykes/Getty Images Rumor has it that during the early part of most practices, Oregon’s dynamic tailback De’Anthony Thomas will take turns playing defense against anyone willing to test him. Thomas was the No. 1-rated defensive back and top athlete coming out of high school, so turning his hips and running with a receiver is quite natural for him. Thomas may get the opportunity to cover a receiver this Saturday, except it may actually have some meaning. The Oregonian is reporting that sources close to the Ducks program say that because of several injuries at the cornerback position, Thomas may see some time there Saturday against Stanford. “I wouldn’t be surprised,” the source said. Ducks defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti also added his opinion on the banged up secondary. “That’s hard back there, but obviously we’re going to try to get somebody ready,” he said after practice Monday. “We’re getting thinner. But we’ll find a way to make this work.” Aliotti was asked about playing Thomas in the secondary. “In a heartbeat. In a heartbeat,” Aliotti said. “But let’s not go there.” The post De’Anthony Thomas Could Play Some Defense In Next Game appeared first on FootBasket.

Injuries test No. 1 Ducks' defense

The Oregon Ducks rarely, if ever, talk about injuries - even season-ending ones. So it's hard to say how depleted the AP's No. 1 team is going into Saturday's game against No. 14 Stanford. But it's clear the Ducks have taken a hit, especially on defense. The latest casualty is free safety Avery Patterson, who seriously injured his left knee in the second quarter...
