Andrew Pierce ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns to lead Delaware past Colonial Athletic Association foe William & Mary 51-21 Saturday night.
Delaware (3-0, 1-0) controlled every phase, offense, defense and special teams.
The Blue Hens scored the game's first touchdown on an interception returned 47 yards by Zach Kerr, and later padded the lead on a blocked field goal returned 90 yards for the score by Travis Hawkins. Those big plays helped Delaware build a 27-7 halftime lead.
Pierce dominated the third quarter. He scored on the Blue Hens' first possession of the third, running it in from 23 yards out, then rushed for a 4-yard touchdown two possessions later, leaving little hope to William & Mary (0-4,0-2).
The Blue Hens have not started 4-0 since 2007. The Tribe falls to 0-4 for the first time since 1981.
The game was delayed nearly 90 minutes due to rain.
