Denard “Shoelace” Robinson broke many Michigan records and will be remembered for a long time around Ann Arbor, just not for his quarterback play. Robinson was electric in many facets of the game except passing, and because of that he’ll probably never play that position at the next level. Robinson does indeed want to get to the next level, and that’s why according to the Detroit Free Press, Robinson will play wide receiver at the Senior Bowl. Denard was invited to the game as a wide receiver, but could also see time at running back as well.  ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper said Robinson could pull an Antwaan Randle El and really help his draft stock if he’s able to perform well. Kiper: “There’s a lot of people hoping that he goes down to Mobile, Ala., and plays in that Senior Bowl and does what Antwaan Randle El did coming out of Indiana as a quarterback, goes there and shows that he can catch the football and return punts,” Kiper said. “If Robinson does that, we know he’s got tremendous speed, a tremendous burst, we know he’s a tough kid, we know he can run with the football in his hands, you can put him in the backfield. He could be a situational back, you could put him in the slot, in the wing, you could put him in the return game, you can get him the ball in space. “I think as long as he shows he can catch the ball effectively, he’s got a chance to be a second-round draft choice. I really believe that’s where he could potentially go.” Robinson set the NCAA FBS career record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 4,495 yards. I do agree with Kiper, if he can show scouts that he can play wide receiver and be versatile, he does have a shot at the next level, if not there’s always Canada.

Denard Robinson will reportedly play wide receiver at the Senior Bowl

Denard Robinson may have once been a Heisman Trophy candidate as a quarterback at Michigan, but the game is much different in the NFL than it is at the college level. Robinson’s legs were more of a threat that his arm during his days as a Wolverine. He set an NCAA record for career rushing yards by a quarterback with 4,495 and was used as a receiver and running back when he returned...

Report: Denard Robinson invited to Senior Bowl, but not to Play Quarterback

When the Senior Bowl is played on January 26th, Denard Robinson will not be on the field playing Quarterback.  As evidenced from the second half of this season, the Michigan star will try to impress scouts with his talent at the WR and RB positions. No one would challenge the fact that “shoelace” Denard Robinson had an incredible career at the University of Michigan.  But if...

Denard Robinson to play WR at the Senior Bowl

One of the most biggest playmakers the University of Michigan has ever had at quarterback will soon be catching passes (maybe) instead of throwing them.  It’s pretty safe to say that there is a consensus opinion that Denard Robinson would not be an effective full-time quarterback in the NFL. A much stronger ball carrier than passer, Robinson began his transformation from a signal...
