In a sit down interview with the folks at last week, Louisville head coach Charlie Strong talked about his relationship with his former boss, Urban Meyer, who is now the head coach at Ohio State. “We talk a lot,” Strong said of his old boss at Florida. “I have asked him to play me. I don’t know if he will. I don’t know if he wants to. But I’d love to.” Over the past three years, Charlie Strong has been heard numerous times saying that his team will play anybody, anytime and anywhere. Considering how weak this year’s schedule is, 2013 would have been the perfect time to add a big time opponent to the non-conference schedule. Unfortunately, that never developed. “Before we got in the ACC, I was like, ‘We need to play a big-time opponent … Urban, why don’t you play us?’” Strong said. “He said, ‘Let’s think about that.’” Coach Strong reportedly suggested a neutral site game at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, about 100 miles from each campus. Despite needing to add

Louisville faces challenge of high expectations

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Three years ago only seems longer than it was for Louisville football. The Charlie Strong era began with a thud; a 23-16 loss to rival Kentucky at home in the first game at renovated Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium was not how the Cardinals faithful envisioned things going. Single games can be defining moments, however. For Strong and his fledgling program, it was just...

Canes, Cards change signing rules for fan events

The fallout from the Johnny Manziel autograph allegations prompted Louisville and Miami to announce changes to their signing policies Monday. At Miami's annual CanesFest on Saturday, the Hurricanes will be signing only school-issued posters and nothing else. Gerod Holliman Finally Working His Way Into The Rotation

There were three recruits in Charlie Strong’s 2011 recruiting class that were ranked in the top 170. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wide receiver DeVante Parker were two of them. However, the third one may surprise you. Louisville Bans Autographs at Fan Day to be on the Safe Side

With all the attention that Texas A&M and more specifically quarterback Johnny Manziel is getting over his potential autographs for pay scandal it is only natural that teams become a little concerned when it comes to their players putting their name on anything. No one wants to lose the season before it even starts because someone signed an autograph or two (or thousand). ...

UofL disallows autographs on fan day; some thoughts

Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, I agree with everything the University of Louisville athletic department does. Between the success of the teams, both academically and athletically, and profitability of the department as a whole, I have to really try hard to find fault in the decisions they make. However, when it comes to disallowing autographs on the football team’s fan day...
