Kirk Herbstreit with dirty old man Brent Musburger. Via al.com The apology department at ESPN must be working overtime in Bristol at the moment. The WWL had to issue an apology over BCS title game announcer Brent Musburger's creepy obsession with Katherine Webb, Alabama starting quarterback A.J. McCarron's girlfriend on Monday night. ESPN released the following statement over Musburger's behavior.  “We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.” Webb, a former Miss Alabama, said she thought Musburger "was complimentary, not creepy.'' She may be the only one. McCarron probably doesn't see it that way. (via al.com)

  • Kirk Herbstreit and Brent Musburger are two of the most bias sport casters on the air. I thought Musburger was trying to throw the red flag for N,D. And challenge some of the games early officiating calls. Herbstreit is know for his bias against WV. And Musbuger has been biased for N.D. All year long. ESPN should look for better people to broadcast their college games.
  • An apology???...seriously??...I understand people being put off by the comment but an apology??..c'mon.
  • Saying someone is pretty is an obsession?
  • Musburger's infatuation with Notre Dame and their not so inpenetrable front 7 was even more wierd to me. Is he a Notre Dame alumni? I guess the girl took his mind off the posers he was supporting.
  • In my opinion Brent Musburger has been a terrible for many years. I do not understand what ABC and ESPN see in him. He constantly makes stupid and inappropriate statements during a game. This time he acted like a horny high school kid during a national championship game. Please get someone else.
