One could argue that the Florida Gators have gotten off to a slow start with its 2014 recruiting class. However, that all changed Monday when a trio of four-star prospects — cornerback Chris Lammons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Plantation), wide receiver Ermon Lane (Homestead, Fla., Homestead) and cornerback Quincy Wilson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nova South) — committed to the Gators. Lammons was the first domino to fall. He is the tenth ranked athlete and No. 85 overall player, according to ESPN. The 5-10, 171 pound Lammons chose Florida over Tennessee and South Carolina. But that was just the beginning of the Gators big day. Later Monday evening, Lane and Wilson followed Lammons’ lead and chose the Gators too. The longtime friends, who have been planning to play together in college, announced their decision simultaneously. Lane (6-2, 196 pounds) is listed as the No. 2 wide receiver in his class and 28th ranked overall player, according to ESPN. He also held offers from Florida State, Miami, Georgia, LSU and Alabama among others. He is the first receiver in the Gators 2014 class. Ermon Lane is the Gators first wide receiver commit for 2014. However, Wilson is hoping to play cornerback in college, his position in high school. He chose the Gators over Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State and Louisville among others. He joins J.C. Jackson, Duke Dawson and Lammons as defensive back commits for 2014. With the addition of Lammons, Lane and Wilson the Gators 2014 recruiting class now stands at 16 total commitments.
