Florida Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel sprained his ankle in Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette and now it’s possible that he’ll be out for the next two weeks. Gator head coach Will Muschamp said he thinks Driskel will be available, but “who knows”. “We’re just working through this week,” Gators coach Will Muschamp said on the weekly SEC coaches’ teleconference. “Whenever you deal with an ankle it’s a day-to-day process. It’s a situation that continues to improve. How much it’ll improve into next week, I have no idea at this time. “We feel like he’ll be available, but who knows?” Driskel has been a solid quarterback for the Gators completing almost 65% of his passes for a total of 1,324 yards and 10 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions. Driskel is also the Gator’s leading rusher this season with 424 yards and 4 touchdowns on 97 carries. Losing Driskel won’t hurt the Gators this Saturday against Jacksonville State, but their final game is against Florida State on the road and although Jacoby Brissett isn’t a terrible backup option, he hasn’t been the starter during this good season the Gators have been having. “Got a lot of confidence in Jacoby,” Muschamp said. “It’s his opportunity and I’m looking forward to seeing him play.” Brissett is 9 of 13 this season for 1 touchdown and has only seen action in 3 games this season. This will be his second start this season. This is a tough loss for the Gators.
