TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida State may be 10th in the BCS standings and too far back to have a say in the national championship picture in 2012. But the rest of the teams goals are well within reach in the next few weeks.
Florida State (9-1, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) needs just a win over banged-up Maryland (4-6, 2-4) on Saturday to clinch its second Atlantic Division title in three years. And that would give the Seminoles a 10-win season as well as a chance to win their first ACC title since 2005.
The goal of being state champion is also there: FSU has double-digit wins over South Florida and Miami on the road and will play host to Florida, which is No. 6 in the BCS standings, on Nov. 24.
A division title is Step 1 on Florida States list of goals.
Its important, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. Thats one of your goals. (And) to be a conference champion, to go to the BCS, your first objective has to be to win the conference. To get there we have to focus on Maryland.

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Just three nights removed from a season-opening loss to South Alabama, Florida State responded with a 95-68 blowout win against Buffalo on Monday night.
Clemson and Florida State are tied atop the Atlantic Division as both boast 6-1 conference records, but the Seminoles own the tiebreaker with their September 22nd victory over the Tigers. Both teams play their last ACC games this weekend. Clemson will need a win over NC State and a MAJOR upset by Maryland over Florida State in order to take the division crown.
