Earlier this week on the "McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning" radio show in Birmingham, Ala., former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy treated listeners to quite a rant. It had nothing to do with the latest hot college football controversies. It centered on ... food.
McElroy was peeved that the SEC Network broadcast crew ate food on the air during South Carolina’s 30-24 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. The crew consisted of former Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers — a former "Bachelor" contestant — Tom Hart and McElroy’s radio show co-host, Cole Cubelic.

“You cannot start eating food in a game,” McElroy said. “I’m sitting here on the edge of my seat as a South Carolina fan absolutely freaking out trying to win the Governor’s Cup or whatever the hell it’s called. Trying to win that for the first time ... And then, I fast forward and I’m seeing a 'Bachelor' contestant eat a 2 1/2-foot freaking corn dog.”
While South Carolina earned its first win over Texas A&M, the broadcast crew was sampling food from the South Carolina State Fair.

McElroy got some zingers in on Cubelic.
“You are at work. You’re supposed to be an X-O guy; you’re supposed to respect the X-O," he said, tongue-in-cheek. "I would rather have you break down the second step of the right guard than I would see you eat a doughnut burger on the sideline."
McElroy also offered more appropriate options for his co-host to sample during his next broadcast.
“At least eat some quinoa; at least eat an acai bowl,” McElroy said. “At least eat something that’s going to allow you to live beyond 52."
