TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State junior safety Tyler Hunter had surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season. "(He) expects to make a full recovery and be back next year," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. Hunter started the first three games for Florida State and he is eligible to take a medical redshirt. He would then be a junior in the 2014 season. He had eight tackles and also had an interception against Nevada. Fisher said that Hunter visited with a number of doctors and is relieved that the surgery is done and that he will be able to play football again. "He's extremely excited," Fisher said. "Down, but excited." Hunter wrote on Twitter that he expects to make a full return for next year. Nole Nation no worries I will be back next year bigger, faster, and stronger... Minor setback for a major comeback.... GoNoles Tyler Hunter (@THunterOne) October 8, 2013 True freshman Jalen Ramsey will continue to fill Hunter's safety spot. Ramsey, who began the season at corner, is fourth on the team with 22 tackles and has an interception. Ramsey will have a bye week to continue to learn the safety spot as the No. 6 Seminoles (5-0) prepare for No. 3 Clemson on Oct. 19. "We feel very good about where he is at," Fisher said. "We've been cross training for a long time. That's why we do all of that all the time. Because you never know."
