Georgia started off their season Saturday looking for a big game against Buffalo. The crowd was loud. Players were jumping up and down on the sideline while preparing for kickoff. Fans watched with intensity as the Dawgs kicked the ball to Buffalo.

By the start of fourth quarter the excitement had faded. Half the UGA crowd was gone and the players were sitting on their butts.

What happened?

Aaron Murray might have thrown for three TDs, but he missed alot of completions because of those same old, over-thrown passes. Lack of experience on the offensive line showed when Murray had to scramble one too many times.

The defensive side was unexpected when UGA gave up 23 points. Defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, has had three years to work his 3-4 scheme into Georgia's defense - the linebackers need to stay in their lanes. What lanes were the UGA linebackers in when they gave up so many short passes against Buffalo U?

Georgia's defense needs to check itself! They can't give up 199 yards on the ground against the Buffalos of the world and compete against the mighty SEC.

I'll give Georgia a pass on this game because they were missing four starters on defense between suspensions and an injury. They will not be able to play this way next week when UGA's D tries to stop James Franklin and the Missouri Tigers.

I will give the Dawgs credit for a few things:

True Freshman running back, Todd Gurley, rushed for two TDs (10,55 yards) and tied the UGA record with a 100 yard kickoff return.

UGA only gave up 22 yards in penalties, while not turning the ball over once. (That includes Aaron Murray not throwing any INTs in the game.)

Georgia gets their first win of the season with a decisive 45-23 score.

Sweetheart's Stuff

What happened to that SEC dedication?

By the fourth quarter, Georgia fans had begun to depart the great Sanford Stadium -and all it's humidity- and walk a mile back to their cars. I guess the score is the only thing that matters to these great fans, and once the lead was strong enough, they called it a day.

My final word to those disappearing fans: Football's a journey, not a destination.

Moving along to Todd Grantham. Don't criticize him, Stuart. It would take more than three years to work on a 3-4 scheme. Just getting all the names down is baffling; the "Will", "Mike", "Sam" and "Jack". All of this planning just to disguise where the fourth rusher will come from. I say, have the opposing team close their eyes and say "Marco"..."Polo".

I don't think you should describe the SEC as being "mighty". Try this: Seeking Easy Competition!

Sincerely,

Sweetheart
