If you try to find a word to explain the Mountaineers 55-34 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday, head coach Dana Holgorsen has one for you. Mistakes. If you listen to the post game interviews, frustration is running through the WVU locker room. Keep in mind, this is the same team that was the darlings [...]

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen has announced that junior receiver Ivan McCartney has left the team for personal reasons. The comment from West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen was telling. Echoed as it was by other players and coaches, it explains a good bit about West Virginia's four-game losing streak.
Dana Holgorsen quit helping Oklahoma State win football games when he left the Alamodome as the Cowboys 2010 Alamo Bowl win over Arizona was wrapping up. Holgorsen had already taken the job as coach-in-waiting at West Virginia, and he left the field with less than a minute to play saying his goodbyes to several players, including quarterback Brandon Weeden and wide receiver Justin Blackmon.
Oklahoma State is a week away from Bedlam, and this week Oklahoma is heading to West Virginia to face Dana Holgorsen’s offense and in a way get a head start on preparing for the Cowboys offense. You hate to see the Sooners inherit that advantage, but this week the Cowboys get the advantage as the Mountaineers offense was a good prep for Texas Tech’s no-huddle spread offense.
WVU rolled in to Stillwater to face the Cowboys and a stiff wind on Saturday. In the end, Oklahoma State spoiled the return of Dana Holgorsen defeating the Mountaineers 55-34. Special teams was the story of the game. If it wasn’t the punting of All-American Quinn Sharp, the 96-yard kickoff return by Justin Gilbert, a [...]
Back in the summer I told a few friends that I’d be pleased if West Virginia went 8-4 in its first season in the Big 12.
They scoffed and told me how anything less than 10-2 would be a huge disappointment. It appears we were both wrong (and they are clearly bumming big time).
At 5-4, WVU still has a chance to get to 8-4, but it’s not likely considering the Mountaineers...

It is hard to predict when a shoout-out will take place. There are times that two high powered offenses meet, only to end up in a 9-6 field goal kicking contest.I know I did not see this coming. However, this is one time in which part of me is glad to be wrong, because this game was an example of why writing about football is a fun job.Final Score: Oklahoma State 55 West Virginia...
We all know Bob Huggins is West Virginia. Nobody cares more about the state and coal than Huggs. Remember The Miners have announced the release of the official Huggins’ Horrible Hankie. It was a tough night for Bob Huggins and the WVU basketball team as (21) Gonzaga dominated the Mountaineers 84-50. WVU struggled from the field from start to finish, and foul trouble plagued the young Mountaineer squad. The only percentage you need to know about the first half was 21.7. That’s what the Mountaineers shoot [...]
