Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs look legit after throttling Gene Chizik’s Tigers 28-10 in a game that taught us a whole lot.
The SEC West is considered the best division in all of sports and this game showed just that. Auburn has started out at 0-2 for the first time since 2003 and the offense flat looked abysmal.
Kiehl Frazier turned it over five times and has been unable to answer the bell as the starting quarterback. Not only did he throw 3 picks, but coughing it up twice gave the Auburn faithful an absolute nightmare of a day.
We knew Mississippi State’s defense was solid, but Tyler Russell put together a virtuoso performance as went 20-for-26 with 222 yards and 3 TD with zero turnovers.
Many firmly believed this offense would struggle without Vick Ballard, but the offensive line returned intact and LaDarius Perkins had a solid day (14 carries for 83 yards).
No play was more eye-dropping then his 21-yard touchdown in which he leaped to paydirt tucking the ball inside the pile on.
BEST OF MAXIM
This weekend Mississippi State and Dan Mullen, hungry for a win, finally roke free from the futility that was not being able to beat anyone in the SEC that wasn’t coached by Houston Nutt at the time (my initial thought was that Mullen was just going to wait it out until another SEC team hired Houston), and satiated themselves with a win of bountiful proporations against Auburn...
Mississippi State 28, Auburn 10The day has finally come when it can no longer gleefully pointed out that Dan Mullen has never beaten an SEC West team outside of Ole Miss. All it took was some standard bad Auburn defense and Mississippi State making sure they didn't get in the way of Auburn's offense repeatedly backing into a tree while trying to get out of...

Brandon Marcello, the Mississippi State beat reporter for The Clarion-Ledger, is making his third appearance on the 'Blogle after answering questions for us last season and this summer. Brandon can be found covering Dan Mullen's ego, I mean, the Maroons on Twitter and on his blog. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but he does a great job.
1. How much did we learn from...
