How will Jaylen Key fit into Alabama’s secondary?
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

He has been training with former Alabama safety Justin Woodall, but how will Jaylen Key fit into the Crimson Tide’s secondary?

Key arrived as a transfer from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He has experience as a safety, but he will be competing against several talented players.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder wears No. 22 for the Tide as he looks to secure one of two starting jobs against names such as Malachi Moore, Caleb Downs, Kristian Story, Jake Pope, and Devonta Smith. He has the makeup to be a good safety in the Southeastern Conference, but preseason camp will show us if Key has all the tools. In a recent segment for In My Own Words via Touchdown Alabama Magazine, yours truly discussed Key’s potential. He was an Honorable Mention for Conference USA Team in 2022.
