Prosecutors are setting up an interview with the victim in the investigation of an alleged sexual assault tied to Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston that was reported nearly a year ago.
State Attorney Willie Meggs says he expects to close the investigation in a few weeks. It's unclear why Tallahassee police did not give the case to prosecutors until this week.
Meggs says the victim has moved out of state and expressed concern the media attention has focused primarily on Winston, a Heisman Trophy contender.
In a phone interview Saturday, Meggs said: ''There is a victim out there right now whose world has tumbled down around her.''
Winton's attorney says he has provided two eyewitness accounts that exonerate his client.
The Seminoles play Syracuse at home Saturday.

I’m not sure who fed TMZ the tip about Jameis Winston’s sexual assault allegations, but they are sure to have a lasting ramification on the BCS Championship race.

It is Jameis Winston’s legal right to not cooperate and he has an attorney probably telling him not to say anything.
I wouldn’t speculate about what that means, but if you listen to the State Attorney, there is obviously something about the case that warrants a fresh investigation.

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, the leading candidate to win the Heisman trophy, is at the center of a sexual assault investigation. The Jameis Winston sexual assault allegations have caused a media storm. The biggest question in this, aside from whether he actually did it or not, is how might it impact his play? Florida State is flirting with a national championship game and it routinely puts up more than 50 points per game...
Different day, same results. That could be the new mantra for the Florida State Seminoles.
