It's tonight! The 2013 NFL Draft gets underway at the stroke of 8pm EST on the clock.  Scenarios are swirling around the New York Jets organization, but the two names that seem to keep surfacing are pass-rush specialist out of LSU, Barkevious Mingo, and play-maker extrodinare, WR Tavon Austin, out of WVU.  DE/OLB Barkevious Mingo is known for shedding blocks, on his way to getting a sack, putting on pressure, or stopping the run. He has received criticism for his lean stature, and will have to gain some pounds of muscle if he wants to become an every-down player.  His upside is through the roof, but missing on a pass-rusher can set an organization back. If you're hoping to see sack totals rise, and give up some coverage in the process, you're vunerable. You depend on that big rush to save you, while 3-5 wide receiver sets can tear apart an already weak secondary. I'd pass on Mingo if I'm looking pass-rush, and only take a risk on a much more developed player in Oregon's Dion Jordan, if he happened to be there at nine. Of course, I am highest on safety Kenny Vaccaro at nine. WR Tavon Austin, however, has me all over the place. My heart's saying yes, but my head's saying no. Austin is a lean, mean, versitile machine. He holds abilities to line up at WR or RB, and is a dynamic player in the special teams department. The biggest overall knock on Austin is his size.  Austins measures 5'8" and weighs in at approx 174lbs. That is small. I'm taller by about four inches, and still feel tiny compared to many football players.  Now his results on the field have done must of the talking, but how does Austin transition to the NFL, where everyone is taller, faster, stronger, etc? That reamins to be seen. I don't consider Austin so much as a risk, but I do see better options in bolstering the offensive line, backfield, and even QB. We have Jeremy Kerley in the slot, and should look to find a pass-catching RB. I think we're solid enough not to take Austin in the new WCO, or at least have larger priorities. I wouldn't hate the move, though. But we'll all find out tonight, starting at 8pm EST. Check back here right after each pick for our reactions, and on twitter, @OneJetAtATime.
