Is it the End of the World?—LSU Vs. FloridaIs it the end of the world? If you are a LSU fan, you think it is. LSU lost to Florida, cracking their 18- game winning streak for the regular season(most in FBS). This was anticipated to be the game that LSU would prove the nation wrong about how good of a team they are. During the first half, I thought they were telling the nation how good of a defense they have, offensively not so much.Courtesy of LSUSports.netThey had two successful drives coming from their very first possession and a forced fumble by Bennie Logan at Florida’a 7-yard line, both leading to a field goal. So far this season, the gators have managed to shut-out their opponents in the second half. They kept their streak alive when starting linebackers, Kevin Minter and Kwon Alexander were injured. Minter had cramps and was immediately taken into the locker room, but would return later on. Alexander was not so lucky, he has a broken ankle and will likely miss the rest of the season. They took advantage of LSU’s loss on defense and ran the ball 26 consecutive times and wore LSU’s defense down.Which brings me to the biggest problems LSU has at this time. One big problem is key injuries on both sides of the ball. The loss of offensive tackle Chris Faulk, impacts on how well Zach Metteberger plays, without him, LSU’s offense cannot be as consistent as it needs to be. With Alfred Blue injured, LSU’s running game is not as deep as it has been recently. The other big issue that the tigers have currently is that their offense has no identity. LSU has a defense that forces turnovers and those Fighting Tigers have failed to execute on those “give-me” plays that defense grants them to their full potential. Yes, the forced fumble in the 2nd quarter did turn in to a score, but not a touchdown.LSU plays South Carolina this week. There is not a better time to fix these problems than right now! They will be playing a well coached Gamecock team that defeated what was then the #5 team in the country, Georgia, by a score of 35-7. Georgia is suppose to have an outstanding defense and offense, obviously they did not show up. However, South Carolina is a great team with a smothering defense. They too have among the nation’s best defensive ends, Jadeveon Clowny and Devin Taylor. They will be Zach Mettenberger’s worst nightmare if the offensive line cannot protect him.Something has to give for LSU! It will be a long October and an even longer November if LSU cannot over come this loss, the injuries and the offensive struggles they have.Tiger fans, do not take this loss as the “end of the world” type of loss, because its not. Florida is a very good team that has shown significant improvement since last season. Just remember one thing, Florida is in the SEC and they and any other team in the rest of the conference is capable of defeating another SEC opponent. LSU hopes to take this loss and move on to get ready for another Saturday night in Death Valley.BeyondU SportsBeyondU Sports - Best College Sports Blog Site
