Found October 02, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year:

Jim Tressel, beleaguered former OSU football coach and current University of Akron executive, will be coming soon to a TV near you. Here’s the latest from the PD’s Mark Dawidziak:

Former Ohio State University head coach Jim Tressel is joining the WKYC Channel 3 team as a special contributor. His weekly report, “A Moment With Jim Tressel,” will air each Wednesday during the Gannett-owned station’s 7 p.m. newscast.

Tressel is now 59 years old and is still on the NCAA show cause penalty for the tattoo-gate scandal that led to his firing at Ohio State. He is the Vice President for Strategic Enhancement at Akron, and makes about as many public appearances in the community as university President Luis Proenza.

According to the PD story, the new Tressel segment will be based of his best-selling books and motivational speeches.

In some way, shape or form, you’ve got to think Tressel will be making his way back to coaching eventually. Or maybe politics it seems, based on his continued popularity in the state.

Monday Morning Optimism Week 5: Ohio State vs. MSU

It’s been used before on the Empire. I don’t care. This is now the official image of Monday Morning Optimism Being optimistic isn’t always easy. It’s already happened once, and it may happen again, that I struggle to pull three good things out of a performance. This week, though, I could’ve come up with 10 if I tried.  Heck, even Twitter was more positive this week (after...

When Terrelle Pryor Left Ohio State, So Did The Jersey Sales

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Ohio State football jersey sales have dropped 47% last season, right around the same time former star Terrelle Pryor left Columbus. Now, players names aren't allowed on the jerseys, but a generic number can carry some "star power", such as Pryor's number 2 jersey. Another reason jersey sales fell off is that Ohio State had...

Film Session: Ohio State vs. Nebraska

The Bug Eaters make their trip to Columbus, and the Buckeyes are looking for a little payback from last year.  Looking to go 2-0 in the B1G, and cement ourselves as the top team, Brax and the newly polished Silver Bullets look primed to take it to Nebraska.  I talk that, along with the fallout from last weeks game, and how Michigan’s defense was on the field last week, twice.

Buckeyes, Spartans in pair of spats

Urban Meyer has quickly returned No. 12 Ohio State to prominence in the Big Ten. Meyer has also apparently wasted little time rubbing some of his Big Ten colleagues the wrong way. In February, he irked his fellow coaches with his aggressive recruiting practices. Last week, Michigan State complained that ''incomplete'' game video had been shared by Ohio State before...

Stillwagon charged in shooting

Police say 1960s Ohio State football star Jim Stillwagon is charged in a shooting after a road rage incident that spanned about 14 miles. Officers say the college football Hall of Famer fired a handgun at a pickup truck driver while riding a motorcycle Sunday north of Columbus. They say the vehicles then pulled into a parking area in Delaware and Stillwagon struck the other driver...

Meyer Happy With Latest Practice

Urban Meyer saw his Ohio State football team follow a lackluster day of practice with a good one Wednesday. The Buckeyes are preparing to face Nebraska and could be without a defensive starter, but their quarterback is in good health despite bumps and bruises from last week.

Ohio State to face Little Sisters of the Poor TCU in 2018 and 2019.

Remember in 2010 when Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee compared BCS-busting college football programs like TCU and Boise State to the "Little Sisters of the Poor," insulting supporters of both schools, college football fans in general and a group of nuns who aid impoverished people around the world?  Gee had to eat a little crow when TCU defeated Wisconsin in the Rose...

Buckeyes Came Together After MSU Win

The Ohio State football team opened Big Ten play last weekend with a 17-16 win at Michigan State. Bigger than the final score, however, was how first-year head coach Urban Meyer said the Buckeyes came together in earning an impressive victory.
